The Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail, the first in Southeast Asia, signifies the synergy between Indonesia and China in the shared vision towards the “One Belt, One Road” initiative. Captured right on the ground throughout 2020 and 2021, these photographs illustrate the progress made in the landmark collaborative project. Once completed, the rail will connect communities and facilitate economic and social cooperation.
The photographs in the series include: the first completed Jakarta-Bandung rail tunnel (Tunnel No. 1 which is of 1.8km length) and various state-of-the-art machineries which boasts advanced Chinese technology - a 900-tonne beam truck, 450-tonne gantry crane, beam moving machine and high-speed rail box girder production facility.
