Freezing Point
B.Ireedui
B.Lkhagvaa, a physical education teacher in the northern part of Mongolia in Renchinlkhumbe soum(subprovince), Khuvsgul province, has been training children how to ski for ten years and currently has more than 100 students. His 15 students leave home in the morning to walk more than a kilometer to the mountains, where they train for two months at -30 to -50 degrees Celsius. The main problem for the children is to have warm shoes in the cold of winter, they especially don’t have the proper attire or a place to ward of the cold from their bodies during rest. Sometimes when the temperatures dip very low their hands, feet, and cheeks reach freezing points and they warm themselves one open fire on the top of the mountain. The children disregard the cold and prepare for the training. They train to ski from 9 am to 1 pm, and then they train in soum sport-hall from 4 pm to 7 pm to build their muscles.
The aim of this series is to show how children's rights are being violated in the name of making great athletes, but also to show how children who are committed to their sport and will go through harsh conditions to reach success.
